UX Design Process

UX Design Process

I employ a User-centred Design (UCD) approach to projects. This approach puts the intended users of a site at the center of focus during design and development. I accomplish this objective by talking directly to the user at key points in the project to make sure the project will deliver based upon their requirements. I am a team leader and an advocate of collaborative team work throughout this process.

There are a number of phases that I go through on the way to addressing the design challenge of any project.

Requirements gathering/ specify the context of use: I Identify the people who will use the product, what they will use it for, and under what conditions they will use it. This is accomplished through user interviews.

Design Thinking Workshops: I facilitate workshops with stakeholders and business leaders. We explore such things as project mission, success criteria, hypothesis, ecosystems and break down silos between business groups in the process.

Specify requirements: I Identify any business requirements or user goals that must be met for the product to be successful. I am able to gather these requirements through Interviews with business stakeholders.

Create design solutions: I lead the design of a project from rough concept to a final design. This is a very iterative  process. During this phase I use many techniques including white boarding, sketching, wireframing, and mockups.

Evaluation: I accomplish this through usability testing with actual users. This is also balanced with an understanding of business needs.

The tools and technique I use include:
User & Business Interviews, Personas, Use Cases, Ecosystem Mapping, Customer Journey maps, Facilitating  Workshops,  Prototyping, and of course User Testing.
